« From vine into grapes » means the way of considering a non-customary culture of Moyen Verdon – wine. The Var region and its vines being not far away, altitude and severe winter discourage this planting nowadays. And yet, vine used to exist on the territory, and can be found in medieval symbolism, in cadastral records of the 19th century, in the traditions of the elders…
With the help of various teaching materials, the exhibition explains the history of wine around Castellane, the way vine was cultivated, the way grapes were harvested and transformed, the traditions and symbols related to wine…
Many items of everyday life connected to vineyard heritage will be presented and explained to you as well as illustrated texts in French and in English, videos, oral testimonies. A documentation area and a children’s corner are also at your disposal.
The exhibition is accessible according to the Maison Nature & Patrimoines’ opening hours. Price: 4€.
The exhibition catalogue is available at the boutique.
