At the turn of the 20th century, the textile industry was booming thanks to a catalytic phenomenon that was spreading to all classes: fashion. Clothing was then democratized with the arrival of manufactured products and fashion was widely distributed in the territory through the specialized press.
The exhibition proposes to compare a set of pieces reflecting the plurality of costumes of this pivotal period – bourgeois and popular, traditional from Provence and fashionable from Paris – with contemporary works from the Frac collection. A way of highlighting the issues that run through clothing, its industry and its uses.
